A SYDNEY couple have paid a record Tomaree Peninsular residential price of $950,000 for a Salamander Bay property.
Fronting the delightful Wanda Beach, the property consists of a three bedroom brick and tile house and a two-bedroom flat on a 1033sq metre block.
The accommodation is separated a breezeway and is a council approved duplex.
An outstanding feature is a large waterfront boatshed which is covered by a feature slate deck.
John Way Real Estate, the selling agency, reports that Mr and Mrs Geoff Weaver from Sydney's Hills district plan to use the property, at 243 Soldiers Point Rd, as a holiday home.
Mr John Way said a former owner and Newcastle businessman, Mr Mike Webb, refurbished the house and that the immediate past owner, Mr John Booth, a Sydney architect, had finished it off.
Mr Way also reports selling a brick and tile house two doors to the south of the above property for more than $900,000.
The three-bedroom structure with a one-bedroom flat at the rear is on a 1081sq metre block at No 1b Randall Drive, Salamander Bay. It was to have been auctioned next Saturday afternoon.
Mr Way said a Sydney businessman, whose identity he did not disclose, had bought the property. * NOW for another record. A house on a 550sq metre waterfront reserve block at No 16 Ocean St, Fishermans Bay, was auctioned last Saturday for $520,000.
Mr Kevin Mason, for the selling agency, L.J. Hooker Nelson Bay, says the price was $30,000 above the reserve and $120,000 above the next highest residential sale in Fishermans Bay (a village between Anna Bay and Boat Harbour).
The property, said to have stunning views, features a three-bedroom weatherboard and tile house. The price equates to a mere $945 a square metre.
The new owners are Sydney people who will use it as a weekender. * AND now for a third record, but this time in another part of the Hunter Region.
Avery First National reports having sold the two-storey house on an 1870sq metre waterfront block at 49 Excelsior Parade, Carey Bay, for $812,500.
The price, paid by unidentified Sydney interests, is a record for Carey Bay. The 50-year house had been on the market for $890,000. * DOWLING Real Estate will open a residential agency at 194 Pacific Highway, Swansea, this morning.
It is Dowling's 17th residential agency.
The joint principals are Mr John Gilbert and Mr Brian Smith. They are also the principals of Dowling Belmont.
